Sounders at Galaxy Leg One Western Conference Finals - Gamethread

The LA Galaxy were a team as talented as any. Preseason picks had the team of Beckham, Keane, Donovan, Gonzalez and Franklin (let’s not forget those two Rookie of Year players) as the MLS Cup and even CCL favorites. Along the way an actual season happened and the Seattle Sounders finished higher than LA. Sunday night at 6 PM on ESPN the two teams will meet again.

LA Galaxy is primarily a counter-attacking side with a certain dead ball specialist that makes its set-pieces impressive. Seattle's flank-play-dominant team will be a bit weakened due to injuries and suspension. Again the Seattle Sounders will look to a different route to attack. With both central midfields crowded defensively (both use a CDM with a deep lying mid as their standard) the path may be to count on individual greatness.

The fact is that Fredy Montero and Eddie Johnson do not have strong MLS Playoff histories. It is time for their legends to grow. They are two special talents at this level. This is their stage and their time. Defensively the Sounders will be challenged along the left where one of the best American soccer players in history will face a man who either has little or no MLS experience at left back.

Whatever it takes.

Full Stream for pre-match reading. The game starts shortly after 6 PM on ESPN.
