The roster for the week of United States U-18 players is loaded with Academy talent. A full 21 of the 24 come through the USSDA. The Seattle Sounders loan rep is Jalen Markey who is in his second call up this Fall for the youth nationals. His last call was for a trip to the Netherlands.

Markey only has a handful of appearances with the Seattle Sounders U18 this year, but if his performance against the Vancouver Whitecaps (basically a semi-pro side) are any indication he should get more as time passes. Already tall enough to be an MLS centerback his command and tactical knowledge are strong. Like many youth defenders his on-ball skills are in the need of the most development.

Markey is from Renton and attends O'Dea High School. He is in his fourth year in the Sounders Academy.

This year's U18 team is 2-1-4 +2 GD in the new Northwest Conference with three other MLS sides, Crossfire here in King County and four other Northern California sides. The San Jose Earthquakes 18s are 5-0-0 +14 in the early season. The next home match for the Seattle Sounders Academy is December 15th against Crossfire. They will play five road games prior to that.
