Sigi Schmid did two interviews as part of the buildup and reaction to his raising of the 12th Man flag. In the video over at Seahawks.com he mentions the extraordinarily short offseason gives him no rest while he helps guide the team through the quest for new players and dealing with the salary cap.
As part of the pregame radio interview he talked about how his desire to come to Seattle started when his youngest son was at the University of Washington four years prior to getting hired as a coach. It was then that he first met Adrian Hanauer and mentioned wanting to be here as the coach. He also indicated that Jurgen Klinsmann is one of the driving forces behind getting a United States National Team World Cup Qualifier in Seattle.
Now, it would be fun to think that Sigi has done enough here in Seattle to be recognized without any regard to the Seahawks-Sounders partnership, but if you listen to the interviews he credits that as a major reason why Seattle Sounders FC is so successful.
