Cordell Cato has been called into the Trinidad and Tobago Olympic team's training, the Seattle Sounders announced on Wednesday. This confirms earlier reports out of the Caribbean saying the 19-year-old was set to join the team in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.

Trinidad and Tobago is preparing for the CONCACAF Qualifying Tournament which starts in Carson, Calif. on March 23-27. The finals are in Kansas City on April 2. He could miss as many as three Sounders games, but he was not expected to play a huge part this early in the season, anyway.

Cato was signed this offseason and is considered a bit of a project. He has shown well, though, and has tremendous speed as well as some decent skill.

Cato is the second Sounders player to be called up to his Olympic national team. Babayele Sodade was also called into training with the Canadian team.
