"It’s not a matter of if, but when," Garber said when addressing Orlando’s chances. But that "when" could be a while. "The No. 1 (requirement) in any expansion process is ownership, and we have that in place," Garber said. "No. 2 is the right market from the supporters, and No. 3 is the facility.
I think we have a good market here. We've got the right ownership group. We have not even begun the process on the facility, and until we're able to get further on that it will just force us to continue to work harder on the last piece of the puzzle."

West Ham declined its option to purchase George John and is returning the defender to the Major League Soccer team. John signed with West Ham on Jan. 13 on a two-month loan, and the League Championship team had an option to buy.

Florida International University has another head coach with a famous name. Kenny Arena, son of former U.S. World Cup coach Bruce Arena, was hired on Friday to lead the Golden Panthers.
The younger Arena, 31, is a former Major League Soccer player and University of Virginia standout. He spent the past four seasons as an assistant coach for the UCLA Bruins. Arena replaces Munga Eketebi, a three-time All-American for FIU in the mid-1980s who spent nearly his entire career at the school. Popular in the soccer community, he was head coach for five years and had a 27-51-9 record. The team was 5-8-2 last year.

The 25-year-old winger/forward signed with MLS in December and was selected by Vancouver via lottery, but was waived by the Whitecaps on Thursday prior to the MLS roster compliance deadline. "Lee gives us added versatility in the attack," General Manager Michael Burns said in a statement. "He is an effective player on either wing or up top, and he has great potential in MLS."
