Fredy Montero may not have scored yet, but strong match performances for the Seattle Sounders FC leading scorer are reportedly drawing the eyes of clubs like Ajax and Liverpool. Two reports (Henry Jimenez & Miguel Angel Gallo) out of Colombia came out today at basically the same time, with essentially the same data. This is partially notable due to the fact that Montero still has family and agency representation in his home country.

Neither England nor the Netherlands' transfer windows are currently open so the creative forward could not be lost until the summer. The exact timing of any transfer of a Sounders DP would be key. July and August contain the US Open Cup semis and final, the Group Stage of the CONCACAF Champions League, the MLS All-Star Game, the Chelsea Friendly and two of the other matches that are part of the four-pack. Seattle would also be in middle of playoff hunt.

Seattle would need to quickly replace Montero and work said replacement into the lineup if they were to lose him at that time. While it would be best for the Sounders to lose their players in the winter, the acquiring clubs are more interested during the summer window. At some point in the future Adrian Hanauer will be face an offer he can not decline. It is incumbent on he, Chris Henderson and Sigi Schmid to have replacements in mind for for every MLS window.
