Mark Lee, Anthony Arena and Aodhan Quinn all signed with the Sounders U23 team as announced per a release today. Unlike previously announced signings that came out of the Seattle Sounders Academy these three players are all new to the Rave Green. Quinn is the first to sign from outside of the state.
Coach Darren Sawatzky describes Quinn's signing in the release;
Aodhan Quinn comes from a soccer family and he plays at the highest level of college soccer at Akron. He will give us options in the midfield as we look to play attractive soccer.
Quinn's father is a former English First Division and United States National Team player. Aodhan plays at Akron with DeAndre Yedlin under US U-23 Coach Caleb Porter and was rated by TopDrawerSoccer a top 100 upperclassmen.
Arena joins Wake Forrest teammate Sean Okoli on the roster. Arena is a Kenmore, WA player with US U-18 and U-20 experience that he expects to help him on the team. His two camps were in Florida and Spain. The sophomore senior-to-be defender played in three post season games with Wake Forrest.
Mark Lee won the PDL title last year with the Kitsap Pumas. The defender played three years with the Pumas, earned 2008 All NW Division recognition and has five years of PDL experience. He also plays for the Tacoma Stars of the PASL.
"Mark Lee represents a local soccer product with a winning pedigree," Sawatzky said. "He was an important part of the PDL Championship team last year and he has entrenched himself in the soccer community. We are excited to have Mark onboard."
The South Sound team will continue to add talent up to and through the start of their schedule with its May 11th start.
