Editor's note: Since originally posting, Warren has made it blatantly obvious he's far more curious about soccer than I gave him credit for. He definitely deserves credit for that. Sounders GM and co-owner Adrian Hanauer's appearance on Seattle PBS program "The High Bar" recently aired. It's not a bad interview in that we learn some new stuff about Hanauer such as his one-time aspirations to be a pro soccer player and that he thinks he's almost too competitive. Unfortunately, the bigger takeaway is how annoying the host can be. I get that he's kinda playing a character, but his insistence on wearing his ignorance of soccer almost like a badge of honor is grating, to say the least. Guys like this are under no obligation to like or even appreciate soccer. But can you imagine this guy interviewing an actor while almost bragging about the fact he had never even seen a play? His interviewee would have walked out of the building.
