The new era of Sounders Women soccer begins tonight as the suddenly internationally competitive Seattle team takes on local college side Seattle Pacific University in their first preseason match. All of the national teamers except for Megan Rapinoe are on the game roster, so we should see action from Hope Solo, Stephanie Cox, Alex Morgan, and Sydney Leroux. Soundermom detailed some of the other players that make up the roster in an earlier post today. Also of note is that Isabel Farrell is on the roster. She's a local Crossfire club player who has been playing for a succession of youth national teams and is joining the UW in the fall.
Internet connectivity in the pressbox is a little erratic, so if I suddenly disappear just assume that the Sounders are winning big. And there are enough of you out there in the Starfire bleachers that we might get some updates from commenters as well.
Update:5 minutes from kickoff and it looks like a sellout. Not bad for a preseason match for a team that drew a couple hundred a game last season.
Update: There SHOULD be a stream here of the game. Bandwidth and other caveats apply.
