Post match behavior by Seattle Sounders forward Eddie Johnson earned a fine from the Major League Soccer Disciplinary Committee. His "inappropriate gesture" towards Chicago Fire fans earned the punishment from the league's five man anonymous group.
Johnson released a statement through the Sounders media relations staff
"I sincerely apologize to the Chicago fans, my teammates, MLS, and the Sounders' supporters for my actions and poor judgment I used on Saturday. It was a very emotional game and I let my emotions get the best of me. That is not acceptable and I take full responsibility for my actions. I am truly sorry this took attention away from the success of our team after a great win in Chicago."
No other fines or suspensions from the post-match scuffle after the Sounders 2-1 win are announced at this time. All fines are donated to the charitable partners of MLS W.O.R.K.S and the MLS Players Union.
