Week eight's results solidified rankings at the top. There was very little substantial movement among Seattle Sounders FC's rivals, except for the Portland Timbers who feel nearly a full point. Cleary solidifying their spot amongst the favorites in MLS according to SB Nation's rankers is Sporting Kansas City. The Sporks recieved 100% of first place votes.
Nearly perfect in second are the San Jose Earthquakes who received 15 of 19 second place votes and none less than fourth. Real Salt Lake is also a solid third with all of their support merely spread between 2nd and 4th. An odd thing happened with Seattle though. Despite winning on the road and the sole loss being on a PK to the #2 team, the Sounders fell slightly in the average vote. The Sounders only draw is against the team now ranked 5th - D.C. United who are shooting up the rankings, but like in weeks past the voters are reacting slowly. United are ranked as high as 3rd and low as 12th.
The next chunk is a real mess. Lots of clubs that could do something, but have yet to really go on a run that shows them capable of being good, let alone great. Except at the bottom. It's locked up with Toronto FC as the base and sitting barely above them a collection of teams with horrid starts to their 2012 campaign. In order of bad to not as bad are the Montreal Impact, New England Revolution (though they have a vote at 10th), Philadelphia Union, Portland Timbers and the Columbus Crew are tied with Chivas USA at the second decimal point. From 13 to 19 these are teams with questions still to be answered.
