For a second straight game, the Seattle Sounders will be down one defender because of a suspension. This time, it was Zach Scott drawing the attention of the MLS Disciplinary Committee for his 74th minute tackle of Fabian Castillo. Scott definitely tackled Castillo from behind and does follow through with a scissor-ing motion. It's not the ugliest tackle we've seen, but we've also seen less punished.
All things considered, though, this is hardly devastating for the Sounders. Scott has been a reliably steady defender this year, but he was unlikely to feature in Saturday's clash with Real Salt Lake. Adam Johansson will almost certainly be available for that game, which would have reduced Scott to emergency duty in case something were to happen to one of the center backs or Johansson.
While MLS has not been quite as consistent with these punishments as we'd all like, it is good to see an attempt to see this kind of tackle legislated out of the game.
