Leo Gonzalez Suspended For Stomping On Sheanon Williams

It can hardly be deemed a surprise that Leo Gonzalez has been fined and suspended for Wednesday's match against FC Dallas. His two-footed stomp of Sheanon Williams was, at the very least, reckless and he may even be looking escape with only a one-game suspension. At the time, no foul was called on the play.

At full speed it's hard to really see how bad Gonzalez got Williams, but this still taken by Jane Gershovich shows just how bad it was.

Perhaps more importantly, this leaves the Sounders a bit short-handed for their game against FC Dallas. Gonzalez may have been in line to start, as Marc Burch got the nod in the last game and FC Dallas is the kind of team you'd expect to see the Costa Rican play against.

That would seemingly leave the Sounders with two choices to play left back: Burch or Zach Scott. The general consensus seems to be that Scott would start at right back to match up against Brek Shea, but it wouldn't be the strangest thing to see him play on the left and give Adam Johansson a shot on three days' rest.
