As the Seattle Sounders prepare for a Cascadia Cup and US Open Cup match they found out today that their CONCACAF Champions League run will start with a home game against CFU Club Championship winner Caledonia AIA of Trinidad & Tobago on August 2nd. In the CCL Group Stage they will play their next two one the road. First they head out to the islands and then to Honduras against Marathon. The Sounders CCL run ends with a home game against Marathon nestled between match 33 and 34 in MLS regular season play.
The 2012-13 CCL Group Stage is looser than years past as there are two less games, but still, it will add about 12,000 miles onto Seattle's travel in the 2012 year. Round one of the CCL will occur in a home week that could see 2 Aug at home v Caledonia, 5 August at home v LA Galaxy (full Stadium open) and if they qualify a 7/8 August home game in the US Open Cup Final. Round two is road heavy with at Chivas USA, at Caledonia and at FC Dallas in a week.
Round three is between an away match in Portland and a home game against the San Jose Earthquakes. By the time Round four comes about the Sounders will know how many points they need to advance to the knockouts a second straight year. It sits between a home game vs Dallas and the final match of the regular season down at the HDC against the LA Galaxy.
