Major Link Soccer: The Scoreless Draw Edition

News from around the world:

The newest Clint Dempsey rumors having him trading the Craven Cottage for Anfield as Liverpool are reportedly interested.

It appears that new Vancouver Whitecaps designated player Barry Robson may not be the best public relations ambassador. Once rumored to becoming a Vancouver Rapid (uh, really, that's what an English paper said) Carlos Bocanegra returning to MLS could still happen. The future of compatriots Maurice Edu and Alejandro Bedoya is less known.

There's more news about a closer relationship between CONMEBOL and CONCACAF, the US may host a 2016 edition of the Copa America. Could this signal a potential merger between the two organizations?

Frank Lampard has denied reports he is set to exit Chelsea to join former England teammate David Beckham at MLS side LA Galaxy. The pair were photographed together at the Galaxy's match against the Philadelphia Union. Becks was busy, as he missed the game against the Fire to watch some Wimbledon. Sure, he was suspended, but neat life to get punished and watch one of the largest sporting events in the world.

D.C. United have new owners as Philadelphia 76ers minority owners Jason Levien and Erick Thohir have purchased a major stake in the team. With new ownership on board, it appears DCU may finally move forward with a new stadium project.

The Weekend Recap:

In the theme of the weekend, the Houston Dynamo and Sporting Kansas City played to a scoreless draw. Although possession was fairly even, SKC dominated Houston out shooting them 17-7.

Continuing with our theme, Dallas and San Jose ended in a scoreless draw as well. San Jose played the last ten minutes without Ramiro Corrales after he was issued a second yellow.

Yes, another scoreless draw. The Vancouver Whitecaps and Chivas USA couldn't find the back of the net at the Home Depot Center.

Finally some goals! Real Salt Lake dominated our neighbors to the South in a 3-0 win at Rio Tinto Stadium. Javier Morales Alvaro Saborio scored a hat trick. A frustrated Portland Timbers team lost its composure late into the game and was issued five yellow cards and one red card over a ten minute span.

The LA Galaxy picked up three points on the road against the Chicago Fire on the strength of a Robbie Keane brace.

The Philadelphia Union broke Toronto FC's five game unbeaten streak in convincing fashion with a 3-0 victory.

The New England Revolution defeated the New York Red Bulls 2-1 2-0 with a goal from new designated player Jerry Bengston. Lee Nguyen, former Vancouver castoff, also scored.

The Montreal Impact had an 89th minute penalty converted to snap their three-game losing streak over the Columbus Crew.

ProSoccerTalk had a reporter at the CLink for Seattle's win over Colorado. Their neutral observations indicate maybe the funk isn't over yet.
