Hope Solo Appears On Today, Talks About New Book

You may have heard that Sounders Women goalkeeper Hope Solo (yes, that's her official name now until she joins another pro team), has a memoir out. She also won a gold medal recently. Well, now we're probably going to be seeing quite a bit of her.

She was on "Today" on Wednesday talking about both of those things, as well as several other subjects. As it is morning television, it's not exactly hard-hitting, but Solo does get into some interesting subjects. One of which is her controversial benching in the 2007 World Cup semifinals after which she proclaimed that she should have started instead of Briana Scurry.

That incident, maybe more than any other, has colored her career from that point forward and probably contributes significantly to her riff with the likes of Brandi Chastain. It's hardly surprising that she refused to apologize for that -- and I don't think she has anything to apologize for -- but it was good to see her answer that question with relative ease, by saying "I think we like drama. Did you see the win over Canada?"
