The new season will start with two home matches. First Kick will feature the Montreal Impact visiting Seattle for the first time in the two clubs' MLS life and the next home game is March 16th against the Portland Timbers at CenturyLink Field. That is the first of the four home Cascadia Cup matches for the Seattle Sounders FC. Unlike past years the Sounders will not be playing on July 4th, but on July 6th they will go on their only trip to face the Vancouver Whitecaps.
Fourteen of Seattle's 34 MLS games in 2013 are already scheduled for national television including their first appearance on Uni Mas (formerly Telefutura) Univision sports (Unimas), that match will also be on KING or KONG locally. Unlike past years the Sounders do not play on a single US holiday. Fourteen home matches are at night, only two are midweek.
The team will travel even less in MLS play than last year down below 40,000 miles for the first time. Only three times will they go to the Eastern time zone (Columbus, Philly and TFC)
March is a two home, two road split that will set up the Western Conference with the road matches at San Jose and Salt Lake. April is a light three match schedule with two at home. May's five match feature the first midweek MLS game during a two match Eastern road trip. June is also only three matches and all Western Conference.
In July there are again five matches with trips to RSL and Vancouver while hosting the other three. Five match August may be the toughest month as there are two Eastern trips including one to Houston and their new BBVA stadium. The other August trip is to Columbus. September will set the stretch run with three home games and the easy travel of a trip to LA. The regular season ends with an October of at Colorado, v Vancouver, at Portland, at Dallas and finally hosting the LA Galaxy.
