Seattle Sounders

The Pride of Nacogdoches, Clint Dempsey, has had a socccer complex in his hometown in the Piney Woods of east Texas named after him. The Nacogdoches City Council unanimously voted to change the name of the Hoya Soccer Complex.

Former Sounders defender Ashani Fairclough is training with the New York Cosmos, where he would certainly like to earn a contract and join Brian Meredith in time for the Soccer Bowl in Atlanta.

Seattle Reign and Sounders Women

3 local players have been called up by Canada for its friendly against Korea Republic (South Korea) on October 30th. Melissa Busque of Sounders Women and Seattle Reign's Carmelina Moscato and Emily Zurrer are included in Canada's squad.

Major League Soccer

MLS revealed the playoff dates for this year's postseason yesterday. As expected, there will be a break for November's international dates.

Sporting Kansas City midfielder Graham Zusi has quickly become a folk hero in Mexico for his goal that put El Tri in the intercontinental playoff with New Zealand. There is even talk of erecting a statue of Zusi in Mexico City in front of Estadio Azteca.

Mexico

For the third time this year, Mexico has fired the manager of its national team. For the second time this year, Victor Vucetich Rojas has been fired from a high profile managerial position in Mexico. Vucetich is replaced by Miguel Herrera of Club America. A Spanish-language radio station presented Zusi with a sombrero and a plaque honoring him as "San Zusi".

2014 World Cup

There seems to be a controversy brewing between Brazil and Spain over Diego Costa. Costa, who currently leads the top 6 leagues in Europe in scoring this season, was born in Brazil but qualifies to represent Spain. Spain was set to call him up in the final World cup qualifying matches last week before paperwork issues with FIFA prevented him from representing Spain. Brazil manager Luis Felipa Scolari will travel to Madrid to attempt to convince Costa to play for Brazil.

US Soccer

According to USMNT defender Michael Orozco, several Panama players asked the US players to take it easy on them in their match in Panama that eliminated the Panamanians from World Cup qualification.

Michael Bradley will return to action today for AS Roma in its fixture against Napoli. The match will be televised on beIN Sport en Español at 11:30 AM.

Former FC Dallas winger and resident of Zach Scott's back pocket is reportedly going out on loan to a Championship side in order to get more minutes ahead of the World Cup.

Canada

Jason de Vos doesn't exactly have an optimistic view of the future of the Canadian national team, based on some of the results it has posted in the past year.

Real Madrid goalkeeper Iker Casillas may wind up leaving the club in the January transfer window. Meanwhile, Barcelona goalkeeper Victor Valdes will reportedly sign a pre-contract agreement with Ligue 1's AS Monaco in January.

United Kingdom

Newcastle United has announced a reciprocal deal with West Bromwich Albion to reduce ticket prices for away supporters in their Premier League fixtures. The Magpies are also close to a similar deal with Swansea.

Celtic captain Scott Brown has been handed a 3 game suspension by UEFA following his red card against Barcelona on October 1. Brown and Celtic plan on appealing the suspension.
