Seattle Sounders

If you ignore the product on the pitch for the past 6 matches, this is actually a really great time to be a Sounders fan. Although the team has looked like a shell of its former self lately, fans have been treated to some great behind the scenes material related to the Sounders. The official premiere of "American Football" was last night, reminding many of us why we love this team and the game of soccer. Also recently released is Mike Gastineau's Sounders FC: Authentic Masterpiece, which at one point yesterday broke into the top 100 of Amazon's Sports & Outdoors category (although it was no longer in the top 100 at the time this article was written, which includes books by "Duck Dynasty" cast members, autobiographies of current and former professional athletes, coaches and sports media personalities. The book still retains its #2 spot in the Soccer category. Had Sir Alex Ferguson's autobiography not released this week, Gastineau's book would likely be the top selling soccer book on Amazon.

Major League Soccer

Now that Schellas Hyndman has coached his last game at Frisco's Toyota Stadium (not to be confused with similarly named stadia in Chicago and San Antonio), questions are beginning to emerge concerning whether Hyndman actually wanted to leave his job as the head coach of FC Dallas.

Another MLS coach whose job is far from secure is Vancouver's Martin Rennie. He will find out next week whether he will lead the Whitecaps in their bid to return to the playoffs in 2014.

The MLS Disciplinary Committee has fined David Ferreira and Jackson of FC Dallas for their altercation at the end of the first half in their match against the Sounders last weekend. It is notable that the incident was between teammates.

US Soccer

If you've been waiting to grab some US Soccer gear but were waiting for some sort of discount to become available, wait no longer. The US Soccer store is in the middle of a two day sale, offering some items for 50% off. There's even a Clint Dempsey photo t-shirt available.

USMNT veteran defender Oguchi Onyewu has finally found a club. Gooch signed with Queens Park Rangers on a free transfer yesterday. This means that we could see him in the Premier League next season, with QPR currently well-positioned to earn promotion.

Brek Shea is beginning to put some pressure on his bosses at Stoke to send him out on loan. An earlier loan deal that would have sent him to Derby County fell through when Nigel Clough was fired from his position as manager of the Rams.

Now that Diego Fagundez has his green card, he seems pretty determined to play for the USMNT. It has long been debated whether he will choose to play for Uruguay or the United States. This seems to be the clearest indication he has given concerning his intentions. He will have to wait 5 years before he has the opportunity to represent the United States. The wait would only be 3 years if he gets married to a US citizen.
