Eddie Johnson leaves United States training with apparent injury

Reports suggest Johnson may have injured his groin, but nothing official has yet been released

Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

Eddie Johnson has apparently suffered some sort of muscle injury while training with the United States prior to Friday's World Cup qualifier. It's unclear how serious the injury may be, but reports suggested it may be with his groin.

Johnson has battled groin and hamstring injuries throughout his time with the Seattle Sounders, but has been relatively quick to recover in the past. There is no word as to the extent of this injury or even if it will affect his availability for Friday's game.

Being as the United States has already qualified for the 2014 World Cup, an injury was probably the biggest fear for the Sounders or any other team that sent players to the team. If the injury is serious enough for Johnson to be sent home, it would seem unlikely that he'd be available for Sunday's game against the Portland Timbers.
