2013 - Young Player of the Year

This may not even need to be a vote. The first in the 2013 Sounder at Heart community awards.

USA TODAY Sports

To review, this award is for the U-23 eligible player who had the best season while a Seattle Sounders FC player. Academy and Academy Alumni are eligible for the award. You can vote however you want.

Past winners were from '09 to '12 - Montero, Zakuani, Carrasco and Rose. Two of those were blowouts, but this year probably dwarfs them. Other Sounder at Heart awards will be a bit more neutral in their presentation, but this is kind of of a crazy one.

Jordan Morris - He earned his way to a U-20 call, went to Toulon with the US U-20s. He finished the last Academy season as the number two scorer at the U-18 level and in college is doing quite well for Stanford where he'll likely be a finalist for Pac-12 Freshman of the Year.

DeAndre Yedlin - Seattle's first HGP earned his way back into the US Youth National Team picture and went to the U-20 World Cup. He was an All Star. He started 30 matches and subbed on once playing 2710 minutes in Rave Green. Yedlin finished the year with 1 goal and 2 assists in MLS play. In all competitions he had 3 goals and 3 assists.

Eriq Zavaleta - The Generation Adidas forward/defender was loaned down to San Antonio where the NASL club's coach raved about his play. With the big team he earned just 31 minutes of MLS play. He did have 4 goals in the Reserve League.
