MLS Cup

After a TicketMaster code was leaked a day before tickets to the MLS Cup Final went on sale, 1,000 tickets that were purchased, many of them by Real Salt Lake fans. Because the tickets were intended for Sporting Kansas City season ticket holders, the tickets that were sold early were cancelled and refunded. Tensions between the fan bases of the two teams soon boiled over in social media, with each side blaming the other.

MLS offseason

Marvin Chávez appears to have played his final game as a member of the San Jose Earthquakes. According to reports out of Honduras, as many as 3 MLS teams are interested in trading for him.

The Vancouver Whitecaps have been taking their time in choosing a new head coach after Chicago signed Frank Yallop at the last minute. Part of that may have been because the team was waiting for a couple of their most wanted candidates to become available. Those candidates appear to be Bob Bradley and Jason Kreis. Vancouver renewed the contracts of 11 players, while declining on 8. Those decisions were made with the coaching change in mind.

FIFA

Although Bob Bradley is out as Egypt's manager, he is once again leaving a national team in a better position than it was when he took over. Egypt climbed 13 spots in the latest FIFA rankings. If the teams had been ranked where they are now when the CAF playoff draw was held, Egypt would likely be on its way to the World Cup.

The damaged stadium in Brazil may not be completed until February, setting the project back over two full months. Prior to the accident, site supervisors allegedly ignored warnings that the ground was unstable prior to the collapse of the crane.
