Sounders v Real Salt Lake Desert Diamond Cup Final - Gamethread

Tonight's match is not streamed as it is on actual television. Arlo White will call his first Sounders match of the year as NBC Sports picked the Desert Diamond Cup Final as their preseason warmup. Their coverage starts at 5 PM.

Preseason trophies are not worth much. Quite probably they are the minorest of the minors, but winning one is still better than not. Seattle Sounders FC will be trying to do that while playing their B team and trialists. Real Salt Lake is using the match as a final tuneup for their regular season.

There are several of these tourneys. Charleston, Orlando and Portland are all minor league cities that host MLS clubs in the preseason. Four teams will get to start their season on the high of a trophy. Only two have a chance of doing that in front of national TV. NBC Sports coverage starts at 5PM with first kick about 20 minutes later.

RSL's diamond is a little bit more lopsided these days. The defense a little less star powered. The claret and cobalt have shifted as much as Seattle. They lost Olave, Espindola and Johnson. But they have youth, probably even more players with strong passing skills and touch. This match will not be a test, but a preview of the 2013 season to come.

Bench: Yedlin, Sodade, Ford, Okai, Lund, Durr, Bowen, Rex

The test for the young players, the reservists getting the start will be one which will determine futures for several players. It is the final match that does not matter on the year. It is our first time to watch on television. We are seven days away from the Boom-Boom Clap. A week away from the Rave.

This is your final preseason gamethread.
