Eddie Johnson called to United States World Cup Qualifying

With today's announcement three Sounders are out for the Saturday match against San Jose.

Jurgen Klinsmann's latest United States roster eatures only one Seattle Sounders FC player. Eddie Johnson again gets the call to represent the nation. At this point it should be considered a certainty that he is on the squad. Johnson is third all-time with 10 career goals in qualifying.

The US roster has five players without World Cup Qualifying CAPS and sixteen with ten or less. It is an inexperienced roster with many in the pool currently injured. If Brad Evans was healthy he almost certainly would have been shortlisted considering that eight players from January camp got the call and the squad lacks depth at fullback and bit at central midfield.

In news relevant to the Sounders the San Jose Earthquakes will be without leftback Justin Morrow. Honduras called up Victor Bernardez as well. Seattle will be missing Mario Martinez and Obafemi Martins. Martins only has one match, while the rest of the call-ups will be playing Friday and Tuesday.
