The primary non-game related storylines are that Shalrie Joseph is facing the team with which he was one of the best midfielders to take the pitch in MLS. This is also the first match that Kevin Alston will miss while he steps aside and receives treatment for cancer. That is a much bigger tale than soccer. We of course wish Alston the best. He is one of us.
On the field the match will be determined, as all have been for Seattle so far, by finishing. The Sounders are struggling in the finishing department. There are lineup questions and a shift in defensive tactics as well. Since the club played so well against Santos with those shifts it would be a good idea to bring them forward against a much weaker New England Revolution side.
The Revs defense is stingy. It will be up to Seattle's fast attackers to break it down and complete shots. Defensively they will need to contain Honduras star Jerry Bengston and a midfield that can, but hasn't yet, dominate possession.
