Seattle Sounders FC will likely be without at least two of their four listed forwards for the match at Santos Laguna next Tuesday. Obafemi Martins is getting his knee looked at by a foreign specialist and David Estrada's eye is still healing from a non-foul incident in the RSL game. Eddie Johnson may be back for the next match.
"We'll see how Eddie is tomorrow," Sigi Schmid said after Thursday's practice. "Oba's situation is that after consultation with our doctors and our trainers they didn't feel he could play on Tuesday. He's had this injury before and he's been treated by a doctor so we've let him go back to get treated by that doctor and he'll be back early next week. We'll be in communication and hopefully that whatever the guy did last time will resolve it."
With Martin's knee preventing play next week the team looked at the break as a time for him to get better rather than worse.
"He's definitely out for Tuesday, but he was going to be out anyways," Sigi explained. "So we figured now was a good window to do that and get that fixed. Hopefully he'll be ready to go by the time we play again."
