Before we start, a word to those EPL DVRers; It has been two days. If you haven't watched the game by now, that's on you. The statute of Limitations has past. Wigan beat Manchester City 1-0 in stoppage time. The first major championship in the history of the club came against the richest soccer group in the world. The kicker is that Wigan still has a chance to get relegated out of the EPL at the end of the year.
Almost as big an upset was Sporting Kansas City (only days after suffering their own last minute loss) going into the fortress of BBVA Compass Stadium and earning the first away win in that stadium's history. In fact, the last time the Dynamo lost at home was June of 2011. Regardless, Benedict Cumberbatch is still a boss, and that's not changing any time soon.
Quake, Rattle and Goal has posted their response to San Jose's weekend loss in Seattle, and is pretty hard on the squad. While the Earthquakes haven't played the way they did last year, the team is right in the thick of a battle for the playoffs. Sometimes a good squad just runs into another good squad and the chips fall (like when the Galaxy came into Seattle a few years ago).
Chris Wondolowski has been the top goal scorer in MLS over the last two years by a wide margin, but Pro Soccer Talk has made a list of the top 15 scorers over the last two years. That includes a pretty big Johnson. Those two players, along with the rest of the list, are all listed forwards (though some spend varying amounts of time in the midfield).
Imagine if the Sounders made MLS Cup as the first seed, but were forced to play the final in Vancouver due to a conflict with the Seahawks. That is what happened to the Washington Stealth this weekend, who moved their NLL championship match to Langley BC. The Stealth lost 11-10.
EA's FIFA series is one of the best selling videogames on the face of the earth, yet they still have not included women in the game's player customization. Surprising since even their HOCKEY games have included the gender since 2011.
Finally, Soccer by Ives has created an MLS roster of the most overpaid players in the league, including one Sounder. And as much as I like said player, they might be right.
