Five times (four wins) Seattle has used stoppage time goals to earn three points against Kansas City. Today's stunner was off a throw-in from Zach Scott that Brad Evans tapped through traffic. Aurelien Collin's whiff on a clearance resulted in a bouncing ball to Djimi Traore. He slapped it into the net while Jimmy Nielsen raised his arm and failed to defend the goal.
The Seattle Sounders again beat Sporting Kansas City in stoppage time. Traore joins Fucito, Parke, Rosales/Neagle as a players who don't care how sporting you are.
All the clunky play, all the fouls, the odd Red Card for Marcus Hahnemann while he was on the bench - they can be forgotten for now, because Djimi Traore joined a pantheon of less deities who helped ensure that the people of Kansas City know that the wizards of the Emerald City have real powers over them.
Let's watch Nielsen and KC stand around stunned.
Rewatch. Rewatch. Rewatch. Rewatch.
There will be time to dissect lineup decisions and playing for a tie later. Seattle is 2-0-2 +2 in their last four. Three of those are shutouts. It has not been pretty, but the results are showing signs of hope.
