The Sounders Women are looking over their shoulder at the Pali Blues, while they face the Breeze who are near the bottom of the pile at this point. The Breeze have picked up a familiar former Sounder to help in the attack, Victoria Frederick has been signed to the fully professional squad. They just beat the LA Strikers in a tough match, for only their second victory of the season. It should help their confidence level to come out on top in such a hard fought game.
The Sounders Women have another player named to the USL Team of The Week. Rachel Mercik earned her spot on the TotW for her two goal game against the Rapids. Janine Beckie, Erin McNulty, Shannon Woeller were Honorable Mentions as well. I guess they can't stack the TotW from one team, but they should have. All three of those players played great soccer last weekend.
The Fab Five Dawgs are still having their Italian adventure, and will not be available this weekend. They beat Italian club team Arenzano Calcio Femminile 4-1 on Thursday. Jenna Richardson is now in Seattle and will be available for this weekend. I haven't heard if Melissa Busque is back from Canadian National Team duties (they lost to Germany on Wednesday).
Both games will be streamed on USL*Live, but tickets are available, and they could really use fans in the stands to keep this undefeated team motivated. Especially the game against the mighty Pali Blues on Sunday.
