Sounders at Real Salt Lake - Gamethread

A 6:30 PM match on KONG 6/16 will once again test the Sounders ability to play without Osvaldo Alonso. It also happens to be against one of the better teams in the West.

Entering a match with a diminished lineup lacking the first choice right back and central midfield will force the returning US and Honduran National Team players to perform at their best. Seattle Sounders FC will also need to see the continued success of Lamar Neagle and just maybe get a bit fortunate from a piece of set-play magic. Real Salt Lake is an experienced side capable of pouncing on weaknesses, but also have issues with injuries. Their defense is weakened and their right mid of choice is in Turkey with Yedlin.

This could be the kind of game where neither side looks good. Unfortunately, Seattle needs points against any team in the West and can not afford another off match against pre-season favorites like RSL and LA. So on a Saturday night in Sandy, Utah the Sounders will push for points and not sit back. They have the attacking players to score goals in what looks likely to be a shootout.
