MLS Gamethread: Week 15

Only three games?

USA TODAY Sports

Saturday

4:30pm
New England Revolution - DC United
New England's confidence after spanking the Galaxy 5-0 should be sky high, and one might worry about a let down this week. That is, if they weren't up against DC United. In a battle of the worsts last week, United "won". Now they face a healthy, full Revolution squad that put up five goals on a GOOD defense. Alain Rochat won't be playing, so expect more of the same.

Prediction: New England

5:30pm
Chicago Fire - Portland Timbers (Free MLS Stream)
MLSsoccer's panel of experts sees a draw in this one, with a number of important contributors for the Timbers absent and the Fire gaining a few this week. But I say NAY. The Portland does have a propensity for the draw (part of their whole "everyone else in sports hates it so we LOVE them" thing) but there me some underestimation of just how bad Chicago is. Mike Magee may be good for a late goal or two, but it won't matter if the Timbers are up 3-0.

Prediction: Portland

6:30pm
Real Salt Lake - LA Galaxy (Game of the Week)
Sounders fans will want to root for a tie in this one. While a Galaxy loss and a Seattle win would put the Sounders ahead on points with a game in hand, Salt Lake would continue to have a hold on second place in the West (albeit with three additional games played). Really, at this point in the season, it's okay to root for everyone else to tie every time. But when two teams that make the playoffs every year clash, you should hope HARDER than EVER.

Prediction: Salt Lake

Last Week: 2-6 (But never the wrong winner!)
