What a difference a few days can make! A few days ago, the Sounders were near the bottom of the Western Conference table (by total points). Now, thanks to a weekend of very favorable results around the league and the first come from behind win in MLS this season, Seattle finds itself one of 5 teams in the conference within 0.05 points per match of each other for the third, fourth and fifth playoff positions.

The festivities surrounding the 2013 MLS All-Star Game are underway in Kansas City. MLS Commissioner Don Garber answered questions on Twitter on topics such as expansion, Chivas USA, progress on new stadiums, retention funds and expansion in lower divisions. Some guys called Macklemore and Ryan Lewis performed in Kansas City wearing Sounders jerseys. The performance was streamed live on the MLS website and is available to watch on demand (the performance begins at 37:00 in the video).

The opponent in the All-Star Game is AS Roma, who decided to join MLS in the "Don't Cross the Line" campaign. Michael Bradley expressed his belief that the quality of play in MLS is steadily increasing. Despite the opportunity to see USMNT star Bradley play against the best MLS has to offer, Massive Report argues that the league has evolved beyond the current format of the All-Star Game.

After Mexico was eliminated from the Gold Cup by Panama, most observer's assumed that his time as El Tri's manager had ended. Surprisingly to most, FMF decided to keep "Chepo" de la Torre for the time being. This decision doesn't do much to assuage fears of Mexican fans that they may fail to qualify for the World Cup for the first time since 1982 (they were banned from the World Cup in 1990).

Only a few months removed from winning Liga MX's Clausura title and leading the league in scoring with Club America, Ecuadorian striker Christian Benitez died at the young age of 27. He had recently joined Qatari club El Jaish, for whom he played the day before his death.
