Clint Dempsey is on pace to make his Seattle Sounders debut on Saturday now that he has officially been named to the bench for the game against Toronto FC. The Seattle Sounders Designated Player has only gone through two full training sessions with his new team and has not played in a competitive match since playing 90 minutes for the United States in their World Cup qualifier against Honduras on June 18. The only two appearances he's made of any kind were in preseason games when he was still with Tottenham.

Without Dempsey in the starting lineup, that allowed Sounders head coach Sigi Schmid to use the same starting lineup two weeks in a row for the first time this season. In fact, it is the first time in 26 matches across all competitions that they've used the same group of starters in any two matches.

In a final piece of good news, Michael Gspurning has also returned to the bench. The goalkeeper would seemingly be on pace to make his return next week against the Houston Dynamo.
