Brad Evans heads to Seattle to heal, does not join USMNT with Dempsey, Johnson

The 19th minute injury to Evans in the win over the Columbus Crew match didn't just make it harder for Seattle, it also has repercussions for the United States in World Cup Qualifying.

Greg Bartram-USA TODAY Sports

It was a big win for Seattle Sounders FC, but there is a price paid for both the Green & Blue and the Red, White & Blue as Brad Evans injury pulls him away from duty with both club and country to heal. Both Clint Dempsey and Eddie Johnson left Sounders FC to join the United States in Miami. Evans did not.

The extent of Evans' injury is not yet known. The only certainty being that he will not be playing against Chivas USA nor against Cost Rica. If the problem is as minor as it can get he may be available for the latter matches with Seattle, but that is still unknown. Michael Parkhurst was called in to replace him with the USA.

This leaves Seattle without Evans, Johnson, Dempsey (nats); Gonzalez (red); and injury statuses of Joseph and Martins are still unkown.

For the United States it will mean a shift away from the man who started their last three World Cup qualifiers with Geoff Cameron and Parkhurst battling it out to replace him at right back.
