Ah, Columbus, Ohio where good things happen for the United States. Dos a cero, Dos a cero and Dos a cero. Tonight's visit by Mexico is another opportunity for the USA to earn their World Cup spot. A win by the Americans and Honduras taking points and the trip to Brazil is sealed.
As will be true for the next few years Sounders FC players will feature in the match. Clint Dempsey will likely be the captain again. There is also a strong chance for Eddie Johnson to get a start up top. But Jurgen can go many different ways. The players won't return to Seattle until Thursday so they are going to be limited against Salt Lake.
This match is in the US so ESPN has the rights. They've had Classic showing previous dos a cero matches all day and are going big with their coverage in the lead up to the game.
ESPN will air two and a half hours of pre-game coverage live from Columbus. ESPN FC will broadcast live from Columbus Crew Stadium from 2:30 to 4 p.m. PT, and then a dedicated one-hour pre-game show will lead into live match coverage at 5 p.m. PT. Seriously, American soccer fans, two and a half hours to preview a key qualifying match. The sport has broken another barrier in terms of television coverage in this country.
Welcome to the big time American soccer fans.
May the Deuce a cero be with us all.
