The magic of Columbus continues as the United States again beats Mexico two-nil in World Cup Qualifying. Early on the Mexican side attacked the Americans quite well. As the game became more balanced the power of Eddie Johnson's head became apparent. A strong save stopped his first attempt, but just minutes later the Seattle Sounders FC star put one home as Mexico keeper left his line.
The insurance goal came off of a Mixx Diskerud, Clint Dempsey, Landon Donovan party. Post match Donovan credited Dempsey with a touch.

Johnson did need to leave the match early as a precautionary measure after he hit his head on the grass at Crew Stadium. Though he returned to the field he was subbed off a bit later.
As Tim Howard said, American players are measured by how they do against Mexico. For now, with a reduced squad starting a back-up target man, a back-up central mid, a reserve right mid, the sixth or seventh choice at right back and a center back pairing less than ideal they are better than El Tri.
An American side powered by the Rave Green is going to Brazil.
