The most well-known kit sponsor in MLS will continue to place their name across the chest of every Sounder for at least another year, according to Don Ruiz at the Tacoma News Tribune.
The Sounders have worn Xbox-branded kits since their MLS inception in 2009, and have played a part in increasing the local and global awareness of the team. Ask tourists about recent visits to Seattle, and one of the things may remark about it the crazy number of people wearing "green Xbox shirts".
The partnership looked to be in peril last year, when Sounders majority owner Joe Roth announced that they were hiring a firm to look into other kit sponsorship deals and expressed pessimism that Microsoft would renew.
In a short interview after practice today, Adrian Hanauer seemed upbeat about the future of the Sounders and XBOX together. From the TNT: "Hanauer said Xbox is the perfect partner for the organization, and said he hopes the jersey sponsorship that has been extended through next season will continue well beyond that"
The announcement comes on the heels of a new partnership between the Sounders, Seattle Seahawks, and Delta Air Lines.
