Seattle Sounders FC made the draft more interesting for their staff and fans when they traded up as part of the Anibaba for Hurtado/Ianni deal. Now with the 8th pick overall they enter the territory that Seattle, and the numbers, see as capable of providing a difference maker. Guesses at the direction they will head are just that, guesses.
Seattle will also add talent with picks 21, 55, and 77. They will choose from a list of 267 players. Four of those players are previous pros signed as international talent by the league.
Both Philadelphia and Vancouver select twice prior to the first Sounders FC pick. LA, New York and Sporting KC do not have a first round selection. Unlike most past years there is no Supplemental Draft. Rounds three and four will take place Tuesday of next week.
The SuperDraft is open to the public and will be dominated by Philly fans with a smattering of some other East Coast supporters and gobs of North American soccer media, front office staff and players.
