At 41 years old and with twenty pro years under his belt Marcus Hahnemann could retire. It would surprise few that do not know him, but for those that do know of Hahnemann his re-signing with Seattle Sounders FC is not a surprise. He's bled green from a young age (Kentridge, Sounders A-League) and it is clear that his desires are not just for personal success, but to win another trophy before retirement.
Must Reads
Retaining Marcus does not make Seattle better in 2014. But it does mean that they have a solid 1-2 in the goalkeeper role. As Hahnemann worked with young forward in 2012-13 he should be expected to do the same with the Stefan Frei, Josh Ford and any visiting or local youth keepers.
Seattle's leadership retained Hahnemann because they "... are looking forward to having Marcus back in a Sounders FC uniform," said Sounders FC Sporting Director Chris Henderson in the team release. "He will continue to add veteran leadership and has proven to be solid between the posts. Marcus has had a fantastic career for club and country and we are proud he will be staying with his hometown team."
Per the club release terms were not disclosed.
