Sounders will start push for MLS Cup on Nov. 2

The Seattle Sounders will begin their quest for the treble on Sunday, Nov. 2 on the road against the winner of the FC Dallas-Vancouver Whitecaps match. That so-called "Knockout Round" game will be played on Wednesday in Dallas. The Western Conference semifinals will conclude on Monday, Nov. 10 at CenturyLink Field.

The Sounders have never won the first leg of any two-legged playoff series and have never even managed to earn a point when they've opened on the road. In 2011, the Sounders opened their playoff series by losing 3-0 at Real Salt Lake before falling 3-2 in the series. The following year, the Sounders advanced past RSL only to open on the road against the LA Galaxy, who also won 3-0. Again, the Sounders cut their aggregate-goal deficit to 3-2 before ultimately falling 4-2 in the series.

It should be said that the Sounders' did beat RSL on the road in the second leg of the 2012 Western Conference semifinals.

The Sounders have also never entered the playoffs as the No. 1 seed and this will be the first time they've gone into a series as prohibitive favorites.
