Clint Dempsey was only a limited participant in Thursday's training session after suffering a slight foot injury in the Supporters' Shield-clinching victory over the LA Galaxy. But the injury should not affect his availability for the first leg of the Western Conference semifinals against FC Dallas on Sunday.
"Dempsey just has a bruise on his foot where he took a bad hit in the game," Sounders head coach Sigi Schmid told reporters on Thursday. "I could tell you who [tackled Dempsey], but you know, the league never cares. He took a pretty bad bruise.
"It's a guy that people are always wondering why he's getting kicked and it's because he's always kicking people and not getting caught..."
Schmid was more than happy to leave it up to our imaginations as to who that player may be, but he was clear that Dempsey was in no danger of missing the game. Schmid also said Chad Marshall was expected to be fine, despite having a light training day.
