National TV Listings:

San Jose Earthquakes at Portland Timbers
Root Sports, 7:30 PM Wednesday

Honduras at Mexico
ESPN2, 6:00 PM Thursday

Ecuador at United States Men's National Team
NBC Sports Network, 4:00 PM Friday

Three Big Storylines:

  1. While not technically on National TV, the Timbers are live locally in Seattle on Root Sports so it is listed.  Portland is one point below Vancouver for the last playoff spot with three to play.  The Timbers just beat this same San Jose team on Saturday night 2-1.  San Jose will be without Chris Wondolowski who was a late call up to the National Team camp.
  2. Landon Donovan's testimonial match will take place Friday before the much more important Sounders v Whitecaps Cascadia decider.  Get to your preferred pre-match destination early on Friday if you are so inclined.  What to watch for outside of the USA's most prolific scorer and assist man playing his last match, reportedly Donovan and USMNT coach Jurgen Klinsmann still have not spoken since Donovan was left off of World Cup squad.
  3. With a short mid-week schedule, the third Big Storyline is a bit of a reach.  Cubo Torres was again called up for Mexico.  Torres club situation is up in the air next year with Chivas USA no longer playing.  Rumors abound as to where the talented 21 year old is going to play.

From a Sounders perspective, an Earthquakes victory would cause consternation to our Cascadia brethren and might be fun to see.  DeAndre Yedlin is with the USMNT in Connecticut on Friday, cheer for a healthy return to the Sounders.  Not a National TV game and not listed in the three big storylines, but Toronto hosts Houston on Wednesday at 4:30 available on MLS Live.  Anything but a win eliminates Houston from the playoffs.
