Sigi Schmid expects Osvaldo Alonso back in time for game in LA

Alonso's health is still day-to-day, but Sounders FC Coach Sigi Schmid seemed upbeat at Tuesday's practice.

Osvaldo Alonso's injury status is cause for concern. For several years he's been the key to the Seattle Sounders defense. When he went down with a hamstring injury the first thought was can Seattle advance to the next round without him? The second thought was will he be back to face the LA Galaxy?

At this early juncture Head Coach Sigi Schmid says yes.

"We'll know more as we move forward each day," Sigi told media after Tuesday's practice session, "but our expectation is that he'll be able to make it back for the game in LA. We'll go through the protocol and obviously the rest of this week we're going to keep him off the field, try to get the treatment in and hopefully back on the field next week."

The team has a light week focusing on regen and fitness. They will be taking a three-day weekend due to the CBA requirements when a team plays over Thanksgiving weekend.

Starters were inside Starfire getting treatment. The subs and unused reserves did some drills, small sided games and fitness work. Andy Rose and Lamar Neagle were partial participants in the session.
