It may not sound like much, but the Sounders business meeting has traditionally been one of the biggest non-soccer dates on the calendar. This year will be no different even with a far earlier appointment than in years past: this is the first time we've gotten together before the season has ended. And like the team itself, his event has been more popular each year over the last.
With increased demand comes a bigger venue, and few are bigger in Seattle than the Paramount Theatre. This is where the various trophies the team has won over the last six years will be displayed, including the two most recent additions (2014 Open Cup, 2014 Supporter's Shield.) Undoubtedly adding one more this month will be a big topic of discussion.
Like past years, we can expect to hear from head coach Sigi Schmid, as well as members of ownership like Joe Roth, Adrian Hanauer, and hopefully Drew Carey (via Skype?) They're often available to talk to before or after the event, so take advantage of the opportunity.
S2 will likely be a big topic of conversation, and General Manager Andrew Opatkiewicz will also be on hand.
There is no free parking like when the event was at the WaMu theater (I'll miss you, RBP Garage) and THERE IS NO LIGHT RAIL SERVICE TODAY, so hopefully if you're reading this you've thought ahead and made other plans.
If you are able, bring warm clothes for the team's Scarf Drive donation.
