Marco Pappa has been named the MLS Latino del Año after winning the online voting contest. Not only did Pappa win, but he did so with a record number of votes. The Guatemala international garnered 81 percent of the vote to win his initial group and then won the two subsequent groups with more than 90 percent of the vote. The four-player final round was a bit closer, but Pappa still got 68 percent of the vote to beat out the likes of Erick Torres, Jaime Penedo and Pedro Morales.

In his first season with the Sounders, Pappa scored six goals and five assists in league competition. Two of those goals came in the season-finale against the LA Galaxy, allowing the Sounders to win the Supporters' Shield. Pappa also has a goal that is up for MLS Goal of the Year, a chip following a Clint Dempsey back-heel against the Colorado Rapids.
