Mock Dispersal Draft - Picking Nathan Sturgis

This is not a "once a Sounder" pick, but someone that makes sense for positional needs of the 2015 team.

Jayne Kamin-Oncea-USA TODAY Sports

Tomorrow's Dispersal Draft of the former Chivas USA players is an opportunity for a few teams to get a bit of talent. Seattle Sounders FC pick 19th in that draft and with such a place are unlikely to have much talent available. There is a quirk - the picked players must have their options picked up for 2015. That could leave talent available.

In mocking the Dispersal Draft with the rest of the thought in my head as Dave Clark pretending to be Adrian Hanauer was to aim for young talent like the HGPs on the roster or a recent draft pick.

Delgado went 1st in the Mock Dispersal Draft with AJ-B, Macnamara and Toia all gone in the top five. The prospects of getting a young player that could either compete for the 18 or makes sense on Sounders 2 disappeared when Calvert was nabbed at 11.

The pick at 19 made sense. There is a chance that the Sounders lose one of Azira, Pineda, or Rose in the Expansion Draft. Brad Evans is probably the right back in 2015. With former Sounder Nathan Sturgis on the board, only 27 and not too long ago having had a great season a selection of B-Rad lite makes sense.

With a salary right around $100k and the ability to play several roles passably hit fits a lot of things that Sigi Schmid likes. Sigi also likes guys who already worked with him.

It is unlikely that the Sounders pick Sturgis. It is unlikely they pick anyone. With the CBA still the greatest unknowns of 2015 unknowns Seattle probably selects "pass." But if they do pick expect them to go as young as they can, or to take someone who knows Sigi Schmid.
