DeAndre Yedlin's days with the Seattle Sounders may be over as soon as the season ends. The 21-year-old full back will receive his Latvian passport within the next two weeks and then join Tottenham after taking a short offseason break, according to an English report.
When Yedlin was sold to Tottenham earlier this year, it was known that this was always a possibility. But the unclear nature of his ability to obtain a European Union passport and his relative lack of playing time with the United States national team had cast some doubt about Yedlin's ability to get United Kingdom work permit so soon. Yedlin has previously expressed confidence in his ability to get Latvian citizenship, though, and this report would seem to confirm as much.
What's also notable about this report is that Tottenham is apparently keen to bring Yedlin in sooner than later. Partly clearing the way is Kyle Naughton reportedly being on the outs with manager Mauricio Pochettino and Kyle Walker not expected to return until December, at which point he'll have been out for nine months.
