It would appear Clint Dempsey won't be called into the United States' upcoming friendlies if the Seattle Sounders are still alive in the playoffs. At least, that's what Grant Wahl is hearing.

Reports that Lee Nguyen will be called in -- apparently regardless of the New England Revolution's status -- had seemingly increased the chance that other players still alive in the playoffs would also get called in. That Dempsey won't be among them is a bit of a relief, but there's still a very real chance that DeAndre Yedlin could be called in.
Even though MLS is taking a break from the playoffs during the week of the games, having players fly across the world for a friendly seems less than ideal. Let's hope Jurgen Klinsmann sees it that way as well.
