The Copa America Centenario is expected to be the most significant soccer tournament played in the United States since the 1994 World Cup. And it could be coming to Seattle, at least according to a report in Brazil's Globo.
Seattle is among 23 cities still in the running to play host to the tournament that will feature all 10 South American nations as well was the United States, Mexico, Costa Rica, Jamaica and two still-to-be-determined CONCACAF countries. The tournament will run from June 3-26, 2016.
Miami and Atlanta have reportedly been eliminated from the running due to stadium renovations that will still be ongoing during the tournament. Although it's still unclear how many cities will be selected to host, the map Globo uses in their report suggests Seattle may be among the favorites. Seattle is marked on the map by the same color as such cities as Los Angeles, Chicago, Philadelphia, New York, Boston and Washington DC, all of which would be among the more obvious stadium locations.
