It's been a while since the combined powers of Sounder at Heart and Nos Audietis created an event to make the virtual real. It will be a bit longer, but here's something to hold you over until that happens. On January 4th at 11 AM the people from Sonarfeed are throwing their Third Annual SonarFeed FIFA Tournament (#SFFT15). As in previous years it is hosted by The Berliner Pub in Renton. It is an all ages event.
Clearly, the big ticket item is the FIFA 15 tournament. They are still looking for a few competitors for a potent 64 player field. Sign up here. They just opened up more slots for a total of 96 competitors.
We will have three Divisions with 32 people in each Division. You will be randomly assigned to either the Berliner Division, the Golazo Division or the Sparkle Donkey Division. Each of these divisions will yield the 'Divisional Winner' who will advance to the Double Elimination Finals Tourney. So you are not one of 96 looking to enter the finals, you are 1 of 32! We feel this is a fair way to get everyone included in the festivities. The winner will be the last person standing (or sitting depending on your game-play style). We expect the tournament to start ~Noon and end around 5pm (including raffles, prizes and other items finishing up at the end). We are taking as many entries as we can but we will close the entries if we reach the limit of 96, however we will create a waiting list and that will also be first come first serve. We expect some folks will sign up and not attend, so sign up even if its full and you might just get in anyway!
It costs nothing but pride, although donations are greatly appreciated. This year will likely have a losers/2nd chance bracket too. The teams will be Sounders v Sounders with base-line controls set-up on Xbox 360s running FIFA 15.
They will also be raising money through an auction.
We have a few sponsors for the event, Golazo, Sparkle Donkey, Berliner Pub plus D-Pad Retro Gaming, along with a large number of individual donors who have given, time, money and raffle items. Speaking of raffle items we have everything from a home brewed beer named for Sonarfeed to signed items from sounders players and tickets to Sounders/S2 matches.
The people behind this event are donating time and money so that all the proceeds from the auction and tournament go towards the Neagle Foundation. Lamar won last year and will be back to defend his title.
It's a fun little way to see people from the greater Sounders community, at least one 1st Team player, likely some Academy and former Academy guys too.
I decided to go, so if all of those reasons aren't enough that's another one. Sounder at Heart donated two scarves to the cause and would love to see some of our audience that doesn't follow the people behind Sonarfeed support charity and have fun. I will not be doing the video gaming, because I'm bad at video games.
You can follow the Facebook event page or follow Sonarfeed on Twitter to stay atop all the information that they are putting out - including the items up for auction.
From this video recapping last year's event you can see that the auction had plenty of stuff if you love Seattle and/or soccer.
